I dag ble det kjent at den britiske popartisten Sam Smith, kjent for blant annet Stay With Me og I’m Not The Only One, vil tolke Writing’s On The Wall – låta til Sam Mendes‘ andre og siste Bond-film, Spectre.
The Playlist beskriver valget av Smith som «one of the worst kept secrets of the last little while.» Da ryktene florerte allerede i våres, uttalte popartisten følgende overfor Capital London Breakfast Show: «I actually have no idea. People seem to think I’m doing it but I have absolutely no idea what’s going on. I’m being deadly serious. I really think I would know by now! I heard Ellie Goulding was going to do it, I heard loads of different things. It’s definitely not me.»
Writing’s On The Wall avdukes 25. september. Smith er entusiastisk til låten:
This is one of the highlights of my career. I am honoured to finally announce that I will be singing the next Bond theme song. I am so excited to be a part of this iconic British legacy and join an incredible line up of some of my biggest musical inspirations. I hope you all enjoy the song as much as I enjoyed making it.
