Renate Reinsve og Verdens verste menneske nominert til BAFTA

I dag kunngjorde det britiske filmakademiet, BAFTA, sine nominasjoner for 2022, og Joachim Triers Verdens verste menneske er blant produksjonene som konkurrerer om prisen for beste ikke-engelskspråklige film. I tillegg er Renate Reinsve nominert i kategorien for beste kvinnelige hovedrolle.

Det er naturligvis sensasjonelt for en norsk film å ikke bare være nominert til beste ikke-engelskspråklige film, men i tillegg en av de aller mest tungtveiende utmerkelsene, for beste kvinnelige hovedrolle. Med dette sikrer Renate Reinsve seg noen særdeles viktige bonuspoeng på reisen mot Oscar-utdelingen i mars – der hun nå må kunne sies å være blant favorittene til å bli nominert i samme kategori.

BAFTA og Oscar er historisk sett nokså samstemte, men de siste årene har vi observert en forskyvning (mer om dette i en senere podkast med våre reaksjoner) der den britiske prisen i større grad enn tidligere løfter frem særlig andre europeiske titler, i et omfang som fortsatt er sjelden Oscar-kost. Vi kan for eksempel trygt fastslå at det ikke blir noen Oscar-nominasjon på verken Julia Ducournau for Titane eller Audrey Diwan for Happening, som begge er med i kampen om å vinne regi-BAFTA. At Parasitt sikret seg fire statuetter i 2020, inkludert beste film, regi og manus, var naturligvis et signal om at også akademiet i Los Angeles er i utvikling, og at Oscar ikke lenger er å betrakte som en nesten hundre prosent amerikansk pris – men det er vanskelig å fastslå om denne utrolige u-svingen var et enestående tilfelle, og et resultat av at Parasitt ble en internasjonal sensasjon.
