Cannes 2014: Variety ^[1] rapporterte i dag om at det franske salgs- og distribusjonsselskapet Wild Bunch ^[2], i samarbeid med tyske Sophisticated Films ^[3], tar med seg Terrence Malick ^[4]s etterlengtede og voldsomt ambisiøse univers-portrett, Voyage of Time ^[5], til Cannes-markedet.    

Voyage of Time, som Malick visstnok har ruget på siden 70-tallet, beskrives av Wild Bunch og Sophisticated Films som «a celebration of the earth, displaying the whole of time, from the birth of the universe to its final collapse.». De tilføyer at filmen vil utforske «(…) all that went to prepare the miracle that stands before us now. After the nebulae and supernovae, after the lands of lava and smoke, after the elaboration of the first cells, first fish, first amphibians and reptiles, this great wonder!». Et grenseløst ambisiøst prosjekt det er vanskelig å forestille seg i hendene på noen andre enn mannen med cowboyhatten.

Prosjektet skal visstnok ha blitt utviklet i samarbeid med VFX-artisten Dan Glass ^[6], som fra tidligere har stått bak de visuelle effektene i blant annet Matrix-filmene, Batman Begins og The Tree of Life. Filmens hovedprodusent vil være Sophokles Tasioulis ^[7] fra Sophisticated Films, som har vært med på å produsere BBCs høyt elskede naturdokumentarer Deep Blue og Earth.

Filmens øvrige produsenter består av Plan B Entertainment ^[8]-gjengen, Dede Gardner, Nicolas Gonda og Brad Pitt, i tillegg til Grant Hill, Bill Pohlad og Sarah Green. Samtlige av produsentene, utenom Tasioulis, har arbeidet med Malick tidligere.

Kan vi lese disse opplysningene, samt Wild Bunchs uttalelse om at de vil benytte seg av «(…) leading experts in natural history cinematography, who using IMAXTM cameras, have captured the planet in an unprecedented way», som et tegn på at Malick for alvor vil forene og rendyrke det vi så smått fikk en smakebit på i skapelsessekvensen fra The Tree of Life med forførerisk naturpoesi?
